How to use Google Photos in 5 easy steps

Sharing photos on social media, with friends, and with potential employers is made easy using Google Photos. This post is for you if you’re unfamiliar with the picture storage service and would need a straightforward, step-by-step tutorial. Discover the many ways to utilize Google Photos with these five easy steps.

1. Choose your preferred method of accessing Google Photos.

Google Photos may be accessed in a variety of ways, many of which overlap. Using a browser on a laptop, desktop, or mobile device is the first method. Find your account in the top right corner of Google while it’s open. First, if you haven’t already, register with Google. Choose “Photos” after clicking the “apps” grid. It may be simpler to download the mobile app if you’re using a mobile device.

Both Android and Apple smartphones can access Google Photos. Some of these choices will be more effective than others, depending on how you capture the majority of your images. For instance, you may not need the app on your mobile device if you’re a photographer who uploads photos straight from your camera to a laptop or desktop. Determine the most effective method for accessing Photos and make the necessary adjustments.

2. Calculate your requirements

The next step is to determine how to effectively modify the photos to meet your unique requirements. There are several significant factors to take into account. These are the two most important ones:

The space

Make sure you’re thinking about how YOU want to utilize Google Photos since this is very user-dependent. You’ll need a lot more space than someone uploading photos of their breakfast from their smartphone if you’re capturing thousands of raw, high-resolution photos every day. When choosing your plan, get a rough notion of the kind of cloud storage capacity you’ll need.

Plan of signup

First, think about how the free alternatives vary from one another. One provides free limitless storage, but the quality is worse. Go for this if you can give up resolution. The other free choice, which has an infinite resolution size, is 15GB. Next, think about if 15GB will be sufficient later on. Otherwise, go for one of the premium plans, which start at $1.99 and $2.99 each month.

3. Add your pictures

Now that you’ve determined how to access your photos and what kind of storage and quality you want, it’s time to begin uploading. Here’s a brief how-to for uploading from a mobile app or a web browser:

Upload using a mobile device

Find the photos you want to upload after downloading the Google Photos app on your device (this is different between iPhone and Android). Choose “share” after clicking the desired picture. Locate and choose the Google Photos option.

Upload from a desktop or laptop browser

There are two simple browser-based upload methods. Initially, you may drag photo files straight from your PC into Photos’ central area (as in the image below).

You may also click the “upload” button at the top of the screen if you’d like. You only need to find and choose your photographs in the popup window that appears.

4. Arrange your photos

You will need to categorize your photographs now that they have been uploaded. As you do this, keep in mind that you will be taking additional pictures in these areas later. Making albums is one of the greatest methods for organizing photos. Next, choose the “Albums” tab and then click the “Create album” option. You should choose the title based on the kinds of pictures you desire in that album. For instance, “animals” may be the title of a folder containing dogs and cats. This speeds up your retrieval time and helps you manage your system.

The “Photo books” menu is your best option if you want to arrange your photos in a more professional way, especially for sharing. After that, you may choose a collection of pictures and create a customized photo book that you can send as a present to loved ones. Keep in mind that organizing your albums makes it much simpler to locate photos for your picture books.

5. Post your pictures

It’s time to showcase your pictures at last. As mentioned above, “photo books” are one method to share your photos, but they are only appropriate for certain particular occasions. You’ll need to get a link from Photos in order to share a picture fast since you’ll often be sharing it online to social media and email.

Find the picture or photos you want to share first. To see these pictures alone, click on them. There will be a “share” icon at the top. When you click it, a link and other sharing options, including Facebook, Twitter, and email, will appear. A link is probably your best option if you want to post it on message boards and forums. If not, share the picture directly using the other methods.

Google Photos is a fantastic tool for sharing and storing photos, but be careful to fully understand all of its capabilities. How much it can accomplish for you will amaze you.
