Does reading in the dark still cause eyestrain? A more subdued display on your iPhone is possible with these steps.
Even on the lowest setting, your iPhone’s screen might sometimes radiate light like a spotlight. Even with the lowest setting on your iPhone, there are times when the light is still too bright to see, such as when you’re checking social media one final time before bed with a sleeping spouse or when you’re suffering from a headache that makes you more sensitive to light.
There are other solutions if you find that the current generation of iPhone screens is excessively bright, even though they may go as low as one nit. You may further lower your display’s minimum brightness with a series of little adjustments—you just need to know where to look and what to do.
Here are several popular and not-so-common ways to lower the brightness of your iPhone’s screen.
1. Turn on Night Shift first.
Using your phone’s internal clock and geolocation, the Night Shift feature on an iPhone automatically changes the display to warmer hues that are gentler on the eyes when the day turns to night. The screen goes back to its default settings every morning. In the Control Center or in your Settings, you may activate it.
Night Shift reduces the blue light on the display, which is obviously a good thing. It may not be as powerful as we formerly thought it was in suppressing melatonin, but it still gives advantages.
Option 1: Configuration
Select Night Shift from the Display & Brightness menu in Settings. You have two options here: either set the function to activate at a certain time or leave it on all day and turn it off in the morning. Additionally, you may change the color temperature from less warm to more warm by dragging the slider located in the page’s footer.
Approach 2: Command Center
To reach the Control Center, swipe down from the upper right corner. Next, toggle Night Shift on and off by pressing and holding the Brightness indicator and then tapping the button.
2.Take use of this accessibility feature to lower the white point of the screen.
One other way to change the saturation of colors on an iPhone is to lower the white point. At night, bright colors are more pronounced, so you may want to adjust this option to make them less noticeable.
Toggle the option to Reduce White Point in the Accessibility section of the Settings menu, then proceed to Display & Text Size. You may customize the brightness of the vibrant colors to your preference by using the marker that appears beneath the setting.
3. Utilize Zoom’s accessibility tool to apply a low-light filter.
It is possible to reduce the display brightness alone if you are simply concerned with reducing the brightness and have no need for warmer or less saturated colors. To make your screen darker than normal, you may use the Zoom accessibility tool to apply a low light filter.
Go to Accessibility > Zoom in the Settings app, and then choose the Low Light option under Zoom Filter. If you want to utilize Zoom from anywhere on your phone, the easiest approach is to triple-click the side button. You can also toggle the function here.
Even if you’ve set your screen brightness to its lowest setting, Zoom will cause your phone to apply the low light filter, making the screen darker. When Zoom is enabled, a little floating circle will show on your screen. To make it disappear, just touch the controller. Just repeat the process of triple-clicking the side button to turn off Zoom.
