Za’abeel Siro One
Included on our 2024 Hot List of the world’s top new hotels
The inaugural hotel for Kerzner International’s new Siro brand, housed in Dubai’s newest landmark, is designed with exercise, self-care, and recuperation in mind. The 132 rooms of Siro One Za’abeel may seem simple at first glance, yet they are anything but. Every component, from the subdued colors to the crisp lines, supports Siro’s ambitious goal. Elite runners who tested the rooms before the Dubai Marathon suggested installing ceiling fans to avoid dry throats after a night of intense air conditioning. Other features include thermoregulated mattresses, an 11-category pillow menu, and blackout blinds that are controlled by the integrated Siro app to wake guests up in natural synchronization with their circadian rhythm. While salads, bowls, and protein shakes are served in the neon-lit lobby-turned-community-hub, on-site nutritionist Heeral Shivnani can create a macro-counted meal plan for you to follow during your stay. Impressive cardio equipment in the 9,687-square-foot Fitness Lab overlook the tall skyline of Downtown Dubai, while the Recovery Lab upstairs offers everything from electro-muscle stimulation and cryotherapy to soothing vibroacoustic therapy. After all that rejuvenation, unwind with sound-healing sessions, yoga and Pilates studios, and relaxation rooms before your (scientifically planned) restful night’s sleep. Prideaux, Sophie

The motel in Lana
The Dorchester, Lana Collection
Included on our 2024 Hot List of the world’s top new hotels
The Lana marks the Dorchester Collection’s eagerly awaited Middle Eastern debut. This brand-new, small, 225-room hotel in Downtown Dubai is the definition of “anti-bling” and shows that Dubai can compete with the renowned international cities where the Dorchester Collection already has locations. This 30-story hotel was obviously designed with the views in mind by Foster + Partners, an architecture firm. The world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, juts into the clouds just beyond, while the circular Marasi Marina sits in the foreground, its inky blue waters reflecting the lights of Downtown Dubai’s skyscrapers at night. A bedroom, living and dining space, entertainment room, kitchenette, walk-in closet, dressing area, and bathroom with a large bathtub encased in white and grey marble are all included in suites.
The Lana truly stands out, though, on a smaller scale, as evidenced by the heated toilet seats, the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer, and the 100% goose-down duvets. Frette creates unique bed linens, while Vispring, Buckingham Palace’s chosen mattress supplier, provides the mattresses. The first Dior spa in Dubai is scheduled to open shortly. With a menu that travels from La Spezia to Saint Tropez via Portofino, Genova, Monaco, and Nice, Jean Imbert has developed a heartfelt tribute to the coastal cuisines of France and Italy for the hotel’s restaurant, Riviera. The Palm hotel, St. Regis Dubai
The Palm, The St Regis Dubai
This hotel, located in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the UAE, offers a touch of New York-style elegance from its location on the trunk of Dubai’s renowned Palm Jumeirah. The hotel occupies the first 18 stories of the 52-story skyscraper, which is also home to The View Dubai and Aura SkyPool Lounge, one of the city’s newest attractions. Of its 290 rooms and suites, there are three categories that all celebrate views of the city skyline and The Palm’s fronds owing to the floor-to-ceiling windows, while also balancing local inspirations with the New York-style glamor we’ve come to expect from St Regis hotels. There aren’t any patios, but there are Frette linens and pillows loaded with down, and the bathrooms have baths that will make you lose yourself as you continue to take in the breathtaking views.
The St Regis Bar, located in the center of each property and known for its famous Bloody Mary, is the place to go for a drink at any St Regis establishment. The in-house mixologists expertly match carefully chosen meals including wood-fired seafood and premium cut meats, and breakfast is served in a spacious, 1920s-style area that takes up the third floor of the hotel. Women who want high tea would love the one offered by Her by Carol Astor, however it is only for women. Dip Pool Bar offers poolside appetizers. Healy, Melinda

The Rupert Peace Hotel
Za’abeel, one and only one
Unquestionably impressive in terms of architecture, One&Only One Za’abeel is housed in one of two towering structures connected by a cantilever. Once inside, The Link is a boulevard-style bridge that resembles Tardis, with three stories of exquisitely designed restaurants run by a number of Michelin-starred chefs. The rather self-conscious term “vertical resort” should not deter you; behind the surface, the One&Only brand values—considered luxury, a sense of occasion, and genuinely intuitive service—are unmistakably there. Even entry-level rooms have enough floor space for a king-sized bed, stretched daybed, and bathroom with standalone tub; 85-square-meter “grand” category rooms have a separate dressing room. Perhaps the glass curtain walls that draw the eye to the horizon are what give the rooms a wonderful sense of space. The interior design of Jean-Micheal Gathy has marble flooring, silk rugs, and gold, taupe, and light sand hues.
With a number of celebrity restaurants from top chefs in The Link, such as La Dame De Pic by Anne-Sophie Pic, DuangDy by Bo Songvisava and Dylan Jones of Bangkok’s Bo.Lan, Sagetsu by Tetsuya Wakuda, QABU by Paco Morales, and Arrazuna by Turkish chef Mehmet Gürs, fine dining is arguably the address’s biggest draw. Clinique La Prairie, a Swiss facility that has been at the forefront of the now-dominant idea of medicalized wellbeing since the 1930s, is the first Middle Eastern Longevity Hub. Expect health and beauty treatments spread over three levels, along with longevity analysis to find the best ways to strengthen your body’s defenses against aging. Bali serves as the inspiration for a number of sculpted rice-paddy-style family pools with a swim-up bar located on level 4 of The Garden. Lifeguards are prominently stationed, and the landscape is particularly attractive, with tropical flora and ornamental water features to cool the pool deck. Dight, Clare
